Activities and Gift Ideas To Keep Children Entertained When Travelling
Very soon the half term holiday will be upon us and the kids will be off for a week or two. For those of you fortunate to be going away during the half term , here’s a few kids gifts and ideas to keep them entertained and amused on the flight or car/train journey.
Books – Kids of all ages love books. So whether it’s picture books for the very young or a good novel for older children, books are great to take away on holiday. Comics are a good shout too!
Playing Cards – Playing cards are so versatile and are perfect gifts for kids of any age. Games such as Snap and Go Fish are perfect for younger children, whereas older kids might like games a little more challenging. The Horrible Histories Playing Cards are great for older children – they will love finding out gruesome facts from long ago as well as playing card games.

Colouring books – My favourite range at the moment is from the Rachel Ellen Collection. These books contain 12 pages, so are light weight and a great size for travelling. If you take colouring books away with you, don’t forget the crayons. Have you seen the super cool plastic Fairytale and Pirate crayons?

Finger printing art sets – These little tins contain all the things your kids will need to make fairy or dino finger printing pictures. Just something a little different from the norm.

Plop Trumps – Just like Top Trumps, but all the cards are based on facts about animal poo!!! Due to the popularity of the original Plop Trumps, a new set of cards have just been launched – Extreme Plop Trumps are now available!!!

Travel Games – These are ideal to take on holiday. They are lightweight and compact. I particularly like the design of the New Fold Out Travel Games. There are 4 games in the collection – Ludo, Chess, Chinese Chequers and Snakes and Ladders. The great thing about these fold out travel games is that the box doubles up as the game board. Simply empty out the playing pieces, then unfold the box and having played the game, then fold the box back up and store all the playing pieces safe inside.
Cat Cradle – maybe a little difficult to play in the car or on the plane, but perfect to play in the airport. A classic kids gift that has been played through the generations and is still as popular today!!
So if you are going away for half term with the kids, take the stress out of travelling by being organised and prepared. Have a few of the ideas above up your sleeve and pack a few kids games in your hand luggage.
